Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits those suffering from the condition the ability to breath over a period of time. Steven Mezynieski is a champion for the disease and actively contributes his time to raising awareness and is actively involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to curing cystic fibrosis and provide those suffering from the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives. This is accomplished through research and drug development, and promoting individualized treatment and making sure patients receive high-quality, specialized care.
There are currently 30,000 people in the United States who are living with cystic fibrosis, with nearly 1,000 new cases diagnosed every year in the country. While there is currently no cure for the disease, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and all of its volunteers and employees work tirelessly to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 1955 to provide a way to cure and control the devastating effects of the disease.
For Steve Mezynieski, finding a cure for cystic fibrosis is important and he is proud to be a supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
